A Note to God, my Family and Friends.

I am not going to thank you all for greeting me a Happy Birthday. All you did was fill up my email inbox and and my Facebook wall with these 2 words. Instead, I will thank GOD for bestowing me such a wonderful life wherein I am connected with people like you. I owe my parents the world for teaching me the importance of being true, kind, honest and understanding. That they have molded me into someone who deserves to have you all as my family and friends. I appreciate all the gifts you have given me but I say just keep 'em comin'! That's why God made you all prosperous anyway.

But seriously, every time I sit back and analyze my life, I have to say "Grabe, I am so lucky to have a life like mine" and so I want to give back to the universe.

To close the celebration of my birthday, I am going to say a deep and thoughtful prayer.

Dear God,

I will be nothing if it weren't for my family. They keep me grounded despite my rise to fame. Every now and then, I appreciate being scolded and reminded that I can't always act like a diva even if I am. My friends are wonderful and I am so grateful that You have tied us all together in one crazy bunch. They keep me entertained and the laughter they bring is good for my abs. (They are in there somewhere underneath the layers of fat).

I want You to keep the money flowing in their pockets so that each time I celebrate my birthday, I will continue to have amazing gifts. Please make me good friends with more celebrities because it seems like whenever I post a twitpic with a TV personality, I gain 30 followers instantly. My goal is to have as many followers as Oprah. It would even be greater if I can have more than hers.

You are so kind to me God, and I want to repay this kindness by helping those who need it.

Because it is my 39th year in this world (by the way, thank You for making me look half my age), I will be donating P39,000 worth of medicine to my favored charity. I know it's not much but I just received my credit card bill from my US vacation so I am living off rice and fish sauce right now, occasionally, I splurge by adding ketchup.

God, kidding aside, thank YOU most of all for my Daddy-O. Even though he sometimes drives me up the wall, You have kept him so healthy and kind. He is the pillar in the Dizon Family that keeps us all safe and protected. A great big hug for lending us Larbs, for being our Mom and taking care of our nutritional and emotional needs.

I have so much to be thankful for but You know all of them already. I imagine You sitting on a golden chair with Mom beside you looking down on us. I can also see Mom shaking her head when we do naughty things. But I appreciate You patting her hand and telling her that everything will be alright. That she raised good kids like my siblings and a very very good child like me.

You are so good to me. Thank you and I love you.

Always and forever,

Candy

Yes, there is so much to be thankful for--God's abundance of blessings poured upon you, your family and friends. It reminded me of what the late John Fitzgerald Kennedy once said, "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." Have a wonderful birthday week!
