What The Duck!!

I think I overdid my duck feast. In 30 days, I had 3 peking ducks, 3 bowls of roasted duck over rice and 6 pieces of minced duck wrapped in cabbage. Of course the peking ducks I shared with friends but still....I need to duck off!

When I was in HK with friends, we decided to try the PD of Peninsula Hotel. We were all prepared for the best duck HK can offer since it was after all, it is the Peninsula. But I think that in the end, I had better duck in a less fancier place.

This is American Restaurant. They have really yummy PD.

More duck to wrap!!

Here's Peninsula's version and more food we ordered!

Here's my HK Peking Duck gang.

When I got back to Manila, you might find it hard to believe, but I was still craving for the lovely creature so I got my Shangri-la Girlfriends to share another one with me at Summer Palace.

My Shang Girls and of course they were wearing JBD!!

I am giving up duck for a while, just enough for the species to multiply.

New Zealand, can you be mine?

After Ondoy and Pepeng and Pepeng again...and earthquakes and tsunami and landslides and all the disasters Mother Nature has bestowed upon us, parang lately, I have been feeling a bit worn out.

On my way to work, passing on EDSA where the buses emit black smoke to the air we breath, the honking, the swerving, the beggars, the billboards, the traffic, the politics and how dirty it is, the upcoming elections and all the other stressful things that we face day...to day...to day...to day, it made me think of New Zealand.

I mean, as long as Snaga, Saruman, Sharku are not around, then I think I will be fine.

Do you know that the Mc Donalds in New Zealand have ANGUS BEEF burgers?

Right now, this is what I need. Just a year of this. All I need now is to enforce it in my mind and it should happen soon enough. I do believe in the power of the mind.

So I was looking for my house and I have decided to get this one. It has 4 bedrooms and 4 toilet and baths. It is US$3,636,497. I know right? I have to find a way to snag this guy.

My future home.

As long as I get this house AND George Clooney, I wouldn't mind having to live with these two for the rest of my life.

New Zealand. Sigh....

Lucy, Poppycock and Friendship.

About two weeks back, I posted that I wanted some Poppycock. I was craving for it and was salivating so much that it might have started the flooding in Metro Manila.

When I got home, I was so happy to see a bag full of them!! Apparently LTG read it and decided to spoil me a little.

Loved her card!!!

For my birthday, she also sent me 3 WONDERFUL books that up till now, my sisters and I are reading.

This is Lucy and Me. I am the one one the left because I drink martinis more than wine. Of course, I am not that skinny and I hardly wear heels like that but one can dream. This illustration was done by Ruben Toledo. He drew all these kinds of fashionable girls in the book of Nina Garcia entitled The Style Strategy. This is one of the books she gave me.

This one is currently with Jenny. She borrowed it since I was still trying to memorize how to improve my style. Lucille wants to borrow it after Jenny so perhaps I won't get a hold on this book till after her. But that's ok because books are for sharing.

This one of course has a catchy title. Anything with the word "merde" on the cover is worth reading. Haha. At least that's what I think.

Lucy, thanks a bundle for my loot! You are the best!!! And since you are in a generous mood, can you lend me your husband? (BWA HA HAHA HA, evil laugh). Love ya!

Don't mean to lecture but.....SWADDLE up already!

After a newborn baby has emerged from the womb the following weeks can feel very uncomfortable for the baby who is use to being a secure and warm environment they encountered while in the womb. Swaddling, or wrapping your baby in a blanket, can help him feel warm, secure and comfortable as he adjusts to his new environment. Many midwives advocate this practice and it is now often taught to new parents in hospital. Research has suggested that swaddling can help to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in young babies. Further research concluded that swaddled babies who use a swaddling blanket are not easily disturbed as they experience a deeper sleep than those simply placed under sheets or blankets.

Why Baby Swaddle?

A baby often has trouble sleeping because he's easily startled by a loud noise or his own muscle movements wake him up (called 'moro' or 'startle' reflex). If your baby has a startle reflex you can wrap him up in swaddling blanket to recreate the secure environment the baby enjoyed in the womb. You can also prevent a baby having startle or moro reflexes by wrapping your baby up in a swaddle blanket which will restrict movement of their arms and legs and creates pressure against their skin making for a more peaceful nights sleep. Some babies can feel uncomfortable for no apparent reason and a baby swaddling blanket can help to keep the baby calm and comfortable. Baby swaddling also helps keep a baby on their back as well as getting rid of unnecessary sheets which can cause SIDS.

Baby swaddling with a baby swaddle blanket can help reduce the amount of Colic which is crying more than three hours a day, three days a week for more than three weeks. Colick is known for keeping a newborn baby awake at night.
---------

Last week, my friends and I donated about 500 baby blankets. My main purpose is for Fabella hospital to use it to swaddle the newborns. I really do hope that the Fabella doctors implement baby swaddling. Not only will they reduce the risk of SIDS and reduce the amount of Colic, they will not get bitten by mosquitoes. PLEASE!! I beg.

Unswaddled babies.
