Alongside the works of the talented designers, the Cura V ladies are proud to present Mawi jewelry from the UK. Mawi is a costume jewelry brand from London which specializes in luxurious statement pieces. In 2010, the brand won the Luxury brand of Tomorrow award by Walpole Committee. Through Cura V, Mawi will be exhibited and carried by the boutique as an in-house brand.

A childhood spent travelling the world and a passion for collecting has influenced London-based jewellery designer Mawi Keivom's eclectic style. Born in Manipur, North East India, the daughter of a writer and a diplomat, Mawi’s life has spanned many continents and cultures. From a very young age there was never any doubt that she would pursue a career in fashion or the arts. Growing up her mother was instrumental in her creative development and stressed the importance of crafts. Learning to knit, sew and crochet from a young age she continued to hone and expand her skills throughout her formative years. This early exposure for the appreciation of art and beauty and workmanship has been a key influence and has continued to shape and define her aesthetics.

After studying Fashion Design at Auckland Institute of Technology, New Zealand, Mawi worked at Isaac Mizrahi in New York before coming to London and launching her eponymous line with her husband and partner Tim Awan. In 2003 the pair made their London Fashion Week debut and Mawi’s  inspiring, individual style won her the New Generation Award for three consecutive seasons; her designs were immediately snapped up by prestigious stores including Selfridges, Barney’s, Liberty and Browns.

Early 2011 marked a turning point for the brand with the opening of the first Mawi flagship boutique in Shoreditch. The new boutique interior reflects a mixture of contemporary and tradition featuring Art Deco lines, Versailles parquet flooring and antique cabinets. It’s a one stop destination where the Mawi customer can indulge in the full experience. Here the brand will showcase and sell bespoke pieces, archives, classic collections and collaborations.

Mawi was also awarded ‘Luxury Brand of Tomorrow‘ in 2010 by the Walpole Committee. This was another milestone for the company catapulting them into the league of other global luxury brands.

Celebrating ten years in business this year Mawi continues to develop her distinctive style influenced by her life and travels. Having developed a cult following and an impressive list of celebrity clientele her sophisticated innovative designs continue to grace the pages of many international publications.
Currently the Mawi Headquarters are housed in a 300 year old stable in Dalston, London, where the brand has resided for the past 10 years and where they are firmly settled.

Cura V aims to bring a luxurious specialty shopping experience to their clientele with this one-day only affair. Guests could shop in style while viewing the latest collections and unique artisinal jewelry and accessory pieces.

All day continental hors d'ouevres prepared by CAV and samples of assorted wines from the CAV cellar, will be served at the exhibit. The lure of Adornment by CURA V is a one day luxury affair in partnership with ABS CBN to be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012, from 11am to 8pm at the CAV wine shop, ground floor of The Spa, lot 5 high street, Fort Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

A few of the designers that will join the trunk show are:

Janina Dizon Hoschka, a mother of two and alumna of G.I.A. (Gemological Institute of America), is part of a pedigree of jewelry makers that began with her grandmother Paz BaƱas, and her late mother, the iconic Jul Dizon. She channeled sixteen years of knowledge and experience to launch her own company, JANINA for Jul Dizon in 2007 at the Peninsula Manila Hotel. She uses a wide variety of precious gemstones that include citrine, pink sapphires, green amethyst, black and white diamonds in either 18-karat gold or in rose, black and yellow sterling silver. The arrangement of the materials in some ways is reminiscent of vintage jewelry. She piles on textures, contrasts different colors and incorporates unexpected forms like a coral octopus or gem encrusted stingray handbag. Each piece is different; possessing its own unique character. There is no shortage of personality.

Emi Jorge celebrates the natural forces of storytelling to fashion art out of stick, stone, metal, and shell. For the past 20 years, she has conceived and designed women’s shoes and accessories with a strong mastery of the feminine mystique; serenity exuded in her creative choices; and purity of expression and craftsmanship. The duality of her creative process –disciplined, yet organic – reveals the inner workings of her designs. Her eponymous collection of modern artisan handbags is a fine product of dramatic transmutations of ideas filtered straight through her hands. From one-dimensional sketches to technical drawings, clay figures, paper sculptures, and fabric pieces to the carefully selected sustainable raw materials, Emi builds from skeletal cohesions of her organic themes.

She debuts with a stellar jewelry collection based on the theme " Prey" using textures and references from natural defense mechanisms.

Emi’s work has been a featured artist in Swarovski,HK ( 2004) Ayala (2007), the School of Fashion and the Arts (2007), and the SLAB Gallery (2009). In 2009, her art pieces were included in "Portraits de Chaussures Histoires de Pieds (Portraits of Shoes, Stories of Feet)", an exhibition at the Yuchengco Museum curated by Yves Sabourin. In September of the same year, she held a solo exhibition of shoes, “Battlegear and Armour” modeled by muses and fashion celebrities. She debuted a collection of minaudieres in May 2010 entitled“Filipino Specimens” on Fifth Ave. New York. She also participated as an exhibitor in ManilaArt (2010) .

Nicole Whisenhunt began her design career in 2004 and has since then established herself as a permanent force in the local scene. Testament to Nicole’s success are her several victories- she was nominated for "Breakthrough Designer of the Year" Stylebible’s 2009 awards, declared as Go Negosyo’s “Most Inspiring Youth Entrepreneur", and part of the list of ten "Awesome Youth 2009" by Philippine Daily Inquirer for the same year. Adding to Nicole’s milestones is the official launch of her brand in 2009, the inclusion of her designs at the Tatler Denim Ball Fundraiser for Education, Philippine fashion magazine-Mega’s 2010 “10 Women to Watch” and her first jewelry art exhibit entitled “Modern Mythologies”, hosted by the prestigious Firma boutique.

In July of 2010, Nicole launched her brand in New York. Her creations are now featured in International magazines across Asia, America, and Europe- such as Elle, Town and Country, In Style, WWD and more.

The Nicole Whisenhunt brand is now carried in New York, Las Vegas, Singapore, Marbella, South Korea, Australia, Dubai, Shanghai and Manila.

Remember, it's a one day shopping event so do not miss it.
