Don't mean to lecture but.....SWADDLE up already!

After a newborn baby has emerged from the womb the following weeks can feel very uncomfortable for the baby who is use to being a secure and warm environment they encountered while in the womb. Swaddling, or wrapping your baby in a blanket, can help him feel warm, secure and comfortable as he adjusts to his new environment. Many midwives advocate this practice and it is now often taught to new parents in hospital. Research has suggested that swaddling can help to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in young babies. Further research concluded that swaddled babies who use a swaddling blanket are not easily disturbed as they experience a deeper sleep than those simply placed under sheets or blankets.

Why Baby Swaddle?

A baby often has trouble sleeping because he's easily startled by a loud noise or his own muscle movements wake him up (called 'moro' or 'startle' reflex). If your baby has a startle reflex you can wrap him up in swaddling blanket to recreate the secure environment the baby enjoyed in the womb. You can also prevent a baby having startle or moro reflexes by wrapping your baby up in a swaddle blanket which will restrict movement of their arms and legs and creates pressure against their skin making for a more peaceful nights sleep. Some babies can feel uncomfortable for no apparent reason and a baby swaddling blanket can help to keep the baby calm and comfortable. Baby swaddling also helps keep a baby on their back as well as getting rid of unnecessary sheets which can cause SIDS.

Baby swaddling with a baby swaddle blanket can help reduce the amount of Colic which is crying more than three hours a day, three days a week for more than three weeks. Colick is known for keeping a newborn baby awake at night.
---------

Last week, my friends and I donated about 500 baby blankets. My main purpose is for Fabella hospital to use it to swaddle the newborns. I really do hope that the Fabella doctors implement baby swaddling. Not only will they reduce the risk of SIDS and reduce the amount of Colic, they will not get bitten by mosquitoes. PLEASE!! I beg.

Fabella Babies.

Just wanted to share with you what the momsformoms experienced last week when we went to Fabella Hospital to visit the babies and see the condition of the premises.

These babies are in the holding room. Basically, there's nothing much wrong with these babies but what I didn't like was the fact that they were in a small crowded room where the air condition was KAPUT. There were quite a few mosquitos and the babies were being bit that their legs have a number of red bite marks. I am trying to get a friend to sponsor an AC unit so that the babies can wear pajamas. Kawawa diba?

This baby is literally wanting his own space.

Not liking this eyepatch. It's made out of a thin cardboard cut out. Think paper cuts!!! OUCH!

These babies are FRESH from the "oven". Literally a few minutes old. I don't like their name tags. It is again a medicine carton box cut out and some are sharp and might give the babies paper cuts.

For my readers....I am pretty sure that when you gave birth in St. Lukes, Cardinal Santos, Capitol Medical, Medical City, Makati Med, Asian Hospital, or out of the country even, that your baby had his/her own bassinet. Fully clothed with expensive baby pajamas and wrapped like a "lumpia" to keep them warm. These babies have none of that. Any kind of donation will be most appreciated.

For the bottles and other things that have been donated but are not useful to FABELLA babies, we will be donating them to an orphanage that momsformoms is also supporting.

SUPER FABELLA FRIENDS!

Been getting donations for the babies of Fabella from my friends and I just want to give a shout to Mimi Que, Rowena Chang and Macky Fah for making our jewellery store into a baby store. It's filled with diapers, clothes, bottles and blankets! I LOVE IT, the mothers and babies and doctors and nurses will love it!

Fabulous Friends of Fabella Hospital.

Cecile, Ingrid and Pia wouldn't have been able to do what I did yesterday. I feel like WONDER WOMAN, (even if it is really Pia who has the powers, wink wink). I had 3 events from 6 - 12 pm. This was after our 4 hour field trip to Fabella. My camera is filled to the brim and my heart was on a roller coaster and now, I feel drained even if I am a super hero. Sigh......

As you may know, it was our Fabella Hospital Trip and boy oh boy, I have to tell you that it was such an amazing experience. In a good and bad way but as soon as I entered the premises, I could feel my heart sink. It's so much more ouchy than a heartbreak from a boyfriend.

But of course, the momsformoms group tried to bring cheer to the mothers and fathers who were patiently waiting for their bundle of joy to arrive and for the other mothers who were inside already caring for their little one.

The nurses were so happy to see a celebrity and were squeezing in the door to get a photo of our showbiz mom, Pia Magalona.

By the way, she wore really really cute handpainted Sperry shoes. Just wanted to show you. Hihi.

And since we are at it, let me show you Ingrid's really adorable Swatch!

Check out Cecile's Jul B. Dizon cuff. It's so bagay to her.

ANYWAY, the gang brought 5,000 diapers! A big bag was environmentally friendly diapers which I think ALL the babies in the world should use.

Also very proud of my sister-in-law, Lucille for sharing Liam's milk to the babies of Fabella Hospital. The nurses were so happy and it made me feel so happy that you are such a great person. Naiiyak tuloy ako.

To the doctors and nurses of Fabella Hospital, I understand that your salaries might not be enough to compensate the hard work and hours that you put in to helping mothers and babies survive the harsh world but know this....from now on, I, with the help of my SUPER FRIENDS, will do our very best to ease the burden of everyone involved in this hospital.

Siyempre I am Wonder Woman. It's my blog. (BWA HA HAHA, evil laugh)

Oh, and for the kind hearted people out there who want to WALK with us to help the Fabella Hospital, this one's for YOU!

We accept baby clothes (used or new, basta good condition), bottles, blackets, white towels, diapers, money, breast milk and everything else that you can afford to give. Please...be part of the Super Friends. We need you, the BABIES need you.

More on this to follow.

Good Things Come in 3's.

Three great things happened yesterday.

NUMBER ONE

I only spent three hours at work (hahaha). Second, we finally met up with Moms for Moms who's working extra hard in helping out Fabella Hospital at Pepper Lunch, care of Chuvaness. We decided to take a trip to the hospital next week and see for ourselves what the hospital needs so we can buy the items with the money raised.

For your information, altogether, we were able to reach an astonishing amount of P830,000+ (please see chuvaness.com for exact amount).

I feel that this will go a looooong way to make the situation of the babies and mothers in Fabella a lot better but of course, the contributions and assistance will always be welcome.

Here's a photo of the Moms who started it all.

Rea Gomez-Harrow, Sheila Catilo, Tina Navarro and Edna Chua and their little ones.

My favorite bloggers.

NUMBER TWO

We had our make up done at Body Shop, Rockwell, once again, because of Chuvaness. We decided to get our face done for the launch of a magazine happening at Greenbelt 5. Thanks to the Body Shop staff who accommodated us and made us look cute! (hehehe)

Your bloggerina and the artist.

NUMBER THREE

Celebrity hunk and chef, Rob Pengson graces the cover of 100 magazine. It was launched at Lusso at Greenbelt 5. Cocktails and happy liquid were passed around like there's no tomorrow (especially when you give the waiter a tip, heheee).

I was so happy last night because I was amongst my favorite people. Ms. Bella Yuchengco, Sunshine and Rob Pengson and the CandyMan.

Cedric being sandwiched by two white boys. (wink wink)

Javi!!!

Ryan Vergara and his girlfriend Garovs.
