At Last..ESCOLTA!

ESCOLTA will soon celebrate the 1st Monthsary sometime next week and I still have to blog...but finally, I am ready.

I love a lot of things about ESCOLTA. I kinda just want to put a king size bed inside and make it my home. Check out the photos and you will see what I mean.

More on the food in my next post!

Am I Too Late?

Two weeks ago, Mandarin Oriental invited me to their Christmas Tree lighting. There were so many people and so many things going on on the stage but all I could really focus on was the FOOD!

I have never had so much FOIE GRAS in one night in my whole entire life. I remember telling the Executive Chef that I had plans on stealing one whole plate of foie gras before the night ends. It's THAT good. Yippee for Executive Chef Rene Ottlik.

Let me show you what I mean.

They panfried them in front of your eyes and you put them on bread and devour it in a few seconds. At least that's what I did.

This table was full of bite size assorted foie gras concoctions.

COTTON CANDY with FOIE GRAS SURPRISE!!

There were a lot of other goodies too.

And now for my FAVORITE part. Dessert. Firstly, let me congratulate Executive Pastry Chef Roberto Molleman for a truly amazing, unique and delicious set up.

When I saw this, I nearly fainted with joy. I LOVE strawberries with chocolate. Sigh....heaven.

Mimes offering chocolates to passersby.

And for the PARTY PEEPS...

Ms. Charisse Chuidian, a very good friend that my mom gifted me with.

Your bloggerina with friends.
A Mandarin Christmas to you all.

STYLEBIBLE's Tribute to Mom.

Please click on the text.

STYLEBIBLE | THE DIRECTORY GALLERIES | JUL B. DIZON 2000-2009 - Though jewelry designer Jul B. Dizon is no longer with us, her legacy forever lives on through her vast collection of masterfully designed pieces. This portfolio documents Jul's work in the last decade, as seen in Preview magazine.

Thank you very much.

Awake?

I usually have the weirdest dreams. I often tell my sisters about it when I wake up because I am the kind that remembers every single detail of what they are.

A lot of times, my dreams are within a dream inside a dream. It takes a lot of effort for me to get back into the real world and honestly, sometimes it scares me. I see it as a small box, inside a medium box inside a large box. It's weird, complicated but that is what usually my dreams are like.

With my mom passing, I am praying that this is just one of those dreams. A very big box that I can't seem to get out of. It is just so unreal to me that mommy, at 66 should be gone. Too young. Too soon. Too painful.

Words of her friends that are pouring in thru email are very heartwarming though. It makes me realize that even for the short life that she lived, she was able to touch so many people's lives and got them to love her, probably because she loved them all to begin with.

This email came from Mr. Christian Espiritu.

I never had the chance to know you well. Albeit I am sure you are one of Jul's daughters I met when I did a feature on her for Business World's Lifestyle section. Thus sometine in 93 or 94.

My friendship with your Mom started in 61 when she executed my wife's engagement ring when we were engaged. I met Jul because of your uncle Teddy.
When my youngest son, Justin got married in '99 here in Ayala Alabang your Mom was one of the principal sponsors and as wedding gift she offered to do their wedding rings.

Even if we did not move in the same social orbit since I and my family got stashed away here in the village our friendship remained close enough for my family to mourn her demise.

I felt so helpless not knowing where her wake was to take place. And by the time I found the time I knew that I was so late.
I may not have gone to her wake but I prayed fervently for the repose of her soul.

Please convey my symphaty and thoughts about Jul to her Cenen. And I would look forward to getting together with you guys maybe in disimilar occasion in the near future.

What Now?

Jul B. Dizon,
July 11, 1943 - December 8, 2009.

Perhaps I am still in denial. Hoping one morning, when I wake up, I would hear her playing the piano. I am still begging that this is all just a dream, a nightmare. I am praying that God takes pity on those she left behind and and turn back time and give us back my mommy.

For now, I still have no words. Just a photo of her in my mind. A constant smile that I keep seeing when my eyes are closed. For now, I will share that with you...

New Moon???

I know right? It's been days since the movie came out and I still haven't gotten around to watch it. It's going to be a tough week with an event NIGHTLY. Not sure if I have the energy to attend all three but I do want to go to the UST's Christmas Concert Gala. That should be interesting.

Tonight, it's about the lighting up of a fresh and 20 feet Noble Fir tree from Oregon, USA at the Mandarin Oriental.

This event will benefit the Sa Aklat Sisikat Foundation.

Anyway, when I do get to watch New Moon, preferably within this year, I just hope that it's not New Moon, Manny Pacquiao version. Scary!
