Nightlife at CAS!

Kwenby told me about this weekly party at California Academy of Sciences even before I left for the US. I was extremely excited to see what SFO has to offer and this was surely to be a great thing to experience.

When we got there, the party had already begun. There were about 3 different party areas where 3 DJ's played all sorts of groovy music.

We opted to stay where it wasn't so crowded. Dancing was not even considered because we were all wearing MEGA heels.

The dinosaur bones welcomed us and it reminded me of the movie Night at the Museum. I was just waiting for it to come alive but no such luck.

Basically, it is one of the nicest museums in California and when the moon comes out, the party starts. Here's what we saw.

The best thing about the museum? They brought in a BIG chunk of the Philippine Coral Reef! It was indeed the most beautiful thing ever. I was so proud.

Your bloggerina with the hottest girls in town!

If you are planning to go, here are a few tips:

1. No need to really get dressed up. I saw people in jeans and sneakers.
2. Get your tickets online to avoid the line. It can get pretty long and it is usually very cold at night.
3. Check out the Philippine Coral Reef.

Pasalubong!

Dear Ate A and S,

I am so sad that we weren't able to meet up in your house when we were all in the US at the same time. I would have wanted to meet the Beckhams and chances were quite high since you are neighbors. But more than that, I can imagine all the laughs we would have had if we did get to hang out.

Anyway, now that we are back in Manila, I hope that we get to catch up on juicy gossip while eating Chinese food!

For this wonderful and thoughtful pasalubong, I am deeply touched. I don't know what to say except I hope you can feel my imaginary hug right now.

THANK YOU!!!

Love,
Candy

Getting Juice Smart!

SMART C+: Add Power to your Passion

The city marches on to a new direction as everyone tries to lead a multi-faceted lifestyle. Success is just as important as good health, smarts are just as vital as strength, and work is not measured by time, but by impact. The new generation of movers and shakers live in the balance of packed schedules. With the demands of their professions, personal lives and responsibilities, passions, luxury, life-enhancement, and leisure pursuits found in between, they remain incredibly healthy.

It is for this specific set of individuals that Smart C+ becomes the smart choice for refreshment. A combination of real fruit juice minus the artificial coloring, added preservatives, and artificial sweeteners, Smart C+ has the vital goodness of 500 mg of Vitamin C, known to be greatly beneficial in strengthening the immune system, and repairing cells and tissues from day to day stress, be it physical or mental, in every 500 ml bottle in its varied citrus flavors: Lemon Squeeze, Orange Crush and Pomelo-Grapefruit.

Rissa Mananquil multitasks from her top priority of being a mother to her son, Enzo, to being a model, to teaching. Her weekly beauty column has also become the by-word in the industry, showing her influence in both cosmetics and fitness. “A healthy lifestyle can change your mood, posture, and attitude. You don’t just look good, you feel good. When you choose to eat and drink healthy, it can transform anyone from simple to stunning - inside and out.”

Liz Uy has been one of the pioneering spirits behind Philippine fashion’s reawakening. Her life in the spotlight: from the glossy flashbulbs of photo shoots in the morning, to the searchlights of prestigious fashion events at night, does take its toll on her energy keep. To keep up with her multi-faceted lifestyle, Liz makes sure she has enough Vitamin C every day. “I like how the vitamin C keeps me going.”

Divine Lee’s success can be measured by the skyscraping amount of energy and vitality she transmits on her day to day affairs. By managing a residential empire, a luxurious clothing line, a long stream of Twitter followers, a burning passion for compassion and philanthropy, and her towering shadow in the glamorous limelight, Divine follows a schedule that is fast-paced, high-impact, and incredibly versatile. “For someone who is always on the go, I need all the vitamin C I can get to do all things fast, fresh, and on time.”

Another young mover, Anton del Rosario, center-back for the Philippine National Football Team, the Azkals, responsible for the big kick for Philippine football’s reemergence. Anton puts great focus and emphasis on performance and works doubly harder in achieving his “goals”. “When I set my goals, I’ll do what I can to obtain them,” he reveals.

RJ Ledesma has tasted life and is still thirsting for more! An editor of Manila’s premiere men’s magazine, an author of multiple titles on marriage, manhood, and its comedic mix-and-matching, and a tongue-in-cheek TV host, not everyone knows that he is also behind the Mercato Centrale and Midnight Mercato weekend markets, which specialize in hearty, and healthy dining. RJ acknowledges the significance of purity in both diet and lifestyle. An instructor and co-founder of Yoga Manila, he tries to keep his life balanced with a daily routine of Ashtanga Yoga. “What is important is that you have passion behind what you do,” reveals RJ, “I think it’s passion that fuels the ability to do all these tasks.”

With whatever inclination or motivation they may have, may it be the fulfillment of motherhood, flash of fashion, sky-high success, triumph of sportsmanship, the life in the spotlight or out of it, all these young achievers have one thing in common and that is passion in everything they do. A passion empowered by a healthy lifestyle that is fast, fresh, and incredibly flavorful, of which Smart C+ is a great addition to. Refreshing, convenient, and clearly citrus, Smart C+ provides us city-dwellers yet another good reason to drink our vitamin C.

My family enjoyed the three flavors this morning for breakfast. My favorite? Pomelo.

MERGING TRUE TALENT AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY WITH THE PHILIPPINE FASHION DESIGN COMPETITION

Honing talents and strengthening the foundation of Philippine fashion – this is the Fashion & Design Council of the Philippines (FDCP). Since 1998, the FDCP has produced the Philippine Fashion Design Competition (PFDC) aimed at grooming and mentoring budding talents in preparation for various design competitions all over the world. This year, the FDCP proudly introduces the latest edition of the PFDC entitled “Weaving the Future: A Social Design Competition”.

This edition of the PFDC aims to link pure talent and social relevance that in the end not only produces new talent but also benefits different communities in the country.

With social relevance in mind, renowned designer and FDCP President JC Buendia shares “This competition aims to provide sustainable livelihood for regional communities through design and development of products made from indigenous weaves, materials and crafts.” He continues that through this kind of fete “we wish to raise awareness on the various rich indigenous materials that the Philippines can offer, placing the country on the fashion map all over the world.”

Each aspiring applicant is tasked to conceptualize a collection of apparel and accessories (fashion and home décor) using only 100% organic materials. Their designs will be then put together by a selected community specializing in the crafts or manufacture of the indigenous weaves and materials. This partnership between the designer and the community is envisioned to be a sustainable endeavor that can revitalize regional economies even beyond the competition.

The FDCP has continued to flourish through the incomparable talent and support of its current members: Edwin Ao, Ivarluski Aseron, PJ Aranador, Avel Bacudio, Vittorio Barba, JC Buendia, Joey Enriquez, Ramon Esteban, Arcy Gayatin, Len Nepomuceno-Guiao, Oj Hofer, Gerry Katigbak, Rajo Laurel, Jojie Lloren, Anthony Nocom, Tippi Ocampo, Dong Omaga-Diaz, Randy Ortiz, Frederick Peralta, Joey Samson, Hindy Weber-Tantoco, Jerome Ang, Amina Aranaz-Alunan, Joel Escober, Gerry Sunga , Cary Santiago and as well as their Advisory Board Members: Lulu Tan Gan, Josie Natori and Cesar Gaupo.

Sharing in the vision of the FDCP are celebrity ambassadors Kris Aquino, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Mons Romulo, Tweetie de Leon-Gonzales, Amina Aranaz-Alunan and Dingdong Dantes.

Weaving the Future: A Social Design Competition is presented by FDCP together with PAGCOR, in cooperation with benchPINOYlab, with SM and The School of Fashion and the Arts (SoFA) and powered by PLDTmyDSL & SMART.

Interested applicants may send their complete and filled-out PFDC Application Form with a scanned copy of all required materials to weavingthefuture@gmail.com on or before August 1, 2011. Application Forms and Guidelines are available at www.pldtwatchpad.com and may be requested through mobile number +63949-688-5230.
